Keeping your website updated is a must for any serious website owner. This ensures your website remains as safe as possible but it also helps to improve its performance. It also adds new features but most importantly, keeps your website working in the latest browsers.

To update your website login to your administration area and click on the update link found in the upper right of your screen. The software will perform several automated tasks and decide which version you need. If the software finds your site is out of date a download button will appear to enable you to obtain the current version.

Once you have downloaded the current version unzip the file to a location you can find and open up the main folder. You will see a folder system similar to this.

Now you have your update you can apply it. Upload all of the files to the correct folders on your website using an FTP program. If prompted, allow the overwrite of any file prompts that appear. Once you have uploaded your new files, you must run the update which applies the changes to your database.

To do this click on the settings tab from within your administration area and under the sub-section extras click the apply an update link.

On the next page that loads ensure you click the button “submit” this completes the update process.

Note: To have access to the update service you must ensure you have a current subscription.
