Shipping by order total with shipping zones

Built into your website is the capability to ship your orders and calculate the shipping price. This is based on the total order value of the items purchased. Whilst this setting is almost identical to setting up weight based shipping, there are a few small differences. Therefore, we will not be referencing the weight based settings. You can elect to assign different shipping costs per country, and even county, if applicable to your circumstances.
In addition to applying order total based shipping, you can also charge a handling fee. This can be completely different in every country or county, to offer further flexibility. The handling fee is assigned to the shipping total, so is not displayed as a handling fee to your client.

Note: There are several steps to complete setting up this feature. It is recommended that you apply them in the order set out here to prevent confusion at a later date.
Login to your administration area. Click on the tab "Settings" and click on the link "E-QCart Settings" which can be found under the sub-heading "Ecommerce".
Find the setting "shipping cost by" and choose the option "2Order total (price)". Click the "submit" button to save.
Set up your shipping zones which will later be assigned to each country and or county as you need. Click on the tab "Orders" then on the link "Shipping zones" which can be found under the sub-heading "orders".
Once the "shipping zones" setting page loads you can opt to automatically set up; "UK parcel force zones" by clicking the "UK parcel force zones" button or by "manually" adding your own using the "add new" button.
If you have already used the set UK parcel force zones or have set up zones before find a zone from the list shown. Click the "Modify" button next to the zone you wish to use. If you are adding your first zone click the button "add new".
When your zone administration page loads, type a name you wish to use and identify the zone in the box called "Shipping zone name". An example here can be "Zone 1 UK mainland" ; this is only shown within the admin area.
Within the Option title 1 box type the name you want your clients to see. For example, "2 - 4 day" or "next day" etc. You can set up to 3 shipping options within each zone.
Importantly, we need to assign an order value and the associated cost you wish to charge your clients for this zone. Use the "Weight / price from" and "cost columns".
In the first weight /price from column, add your first order total value of 0.0001 or something close (you have to have at least one lowest starting point) The fee you want to charge for this price range, in the cost box. Repeat this until you have added all of your order values and prices.
You will end up with something similar to this;

In the above example we have said for zone 1 "2 - 4 day" that for an order total of between 0.001p and 0.4999p we will charge £7.40. Between 0.500p through to 0.999p we are charging £ 8.99 and so on, until we reach our last value which in this case is £10.00. From here if it is over £10.00 charge £1.50 per 0.500p.
So, if the order total came to £10.50, the system would charge £25.99 (for the cost of £ 10) and then an additional £1.50 for the 0.500p that it has gone over.
When you have set up all of your order totals and the prices required for this zone click the "submit" button and repeat the process for all of the zones that you need.
The final step is to assign these zones to each individual country or county. You can do this by clicking on the "Settings" tab and click "Countries" which can be found under the sub- heading "Extras".
When the main "Countries and counties section loads" you will see a list of all the available countries that you can use. These are spread across multiple pages so you may have to navigate between pages to find the country you are looking to administer.
Click the button "modify" next to the country you wish to assign a zone to. When this page loads choose the zone you wish to assign from the drop down menu "Shipping Zone". Click the "submit" button to save your changes.
Repeat this process to assign zones to the countries you wish to ship to. Follow the same steps to assign zones to the counties of a country if required. For example, if you wish to use a different zone for islands and highlands relevant to a particular country.
