General information pages

All general information pages such as About Us, Who we are and What we do can be administered from here. You can set login levels, group them in sections or decide whether to show or hide them from view. This can be done as follows.
Login to your administration area. Click on the tab "Content" and from this page click on the link "General information pages". This can be found under the sub-heading "General Information".
When the main "General information pages" page loads, a list of available pages will be shown. Select a section (if being used) and click the "list" button. You can change the sort order by typing in the required order numbers within the "sort by" column. Finally click the "Modify sort by" button.
To remove a page click the "delete" button. To change a pages content, click the "Modify" button.
To add a new information page click the "add new" button found under the search box. When the page loads complete the relevant options. Once you have completed the page click the "submit" button to apply your changes.
Current available options;
| Meta title: | This is used by search engines and by clients searching the net for keywords. It is a method of identifying what the page is about. |
| Open to all (login level): |
This allows you to completely disable the page. This prevents anyone from viewing it. Setting open to all allows every visitor to view the page. Selecting level 1 through to level 6 ensures that only clients who are logged in and have a login level equal to or greater than the one set can view the page. |
| Order: | This allows you to override the default navigation order of alphabetically listing the pages to any order you wish. For example if you wanted your about us page to be the first on the navigation section for information pages, you would set this to 1 and then change the other pages menu order accordingly 1,2,3 etc |
| Show on menu: |
This allows you to remove a page from the navigation area so you can either link to the page via another or include the link as part of your site template. This you may wish to do for about us pages, terms and contact us type pages. |
| Section: Learn to create a section |
If you have created any "general information page sections" you can assign a page to it from here. This allows you to group pages under one or more sections. |
| Show on also see: |
This allows the page to be shown with the "also see" area. This is only used if the page is assigned to a section and it contains more than one page. |
| Static URL: |
Although your site works with dynamic pages it is often better to use static page names for improved search engine placement. To take advantage of this feature, type the page name you have decided to call it. For example in an about us type page, type about us.asp in the box. The software will clean up and convert the name to about_us.asp and make the file for you (if turned on). Whilst making static file names the software will scan your site to ensure the name has not been already used for another page. If it finds a duplicate page it will automatically rename the newest for you. It is important to note the static file name MUST end in .asp |
| Alt URL: |
If you need to reference another page rather than the current one type the page name in this box. For example if you wish to add a link to your navigation that references a third party page. |
| Menu title: | This allows you to define a separate navigation name for the page. An example here would be you have the page title of about Smart CMS software. This would be too long to show on the navigation section so you would want a shorter name such as about us. |
| Meta keywords: | This allows you to define and choose the number of keywords to help clients find your pages and search engines list them. Each keyword should be separated with a comma. |
| Page content: | This allows you to add content, text or images to the page and is called the body of the page. This HTML editor works much like any word processor and includes its own help files to aid you. |
| Image: Learn to upload and the features |
If you wish to include an image on your page click the word image where a new pop up window will load. Choose the image you wish to upload and use it for this page by selecting the browse button. Once you have selected the image, click submit. Your website will now upload your image. Once completed it will provide a confirmation. Please click complete to close the box and finish the process. |
| Override ALT tag: |
Use for SEO, by default the page title is used as the Image ALT tag however you can override this by typing the content you need. |
