Getting listed in a search engine can take anywhere from a few days, months or even years. The first thing you need to do is list your site with search engines, otherwise, they will not know your site exists.
There are several ways to do this. You can visit each search engine and list your site with them. They will add your details to a queue for indexing.
Another way is to use freely or paid submission services. These will list your site to many search engines. However, it is important to note that major search engines such as Google, MSN etc require a manual submission. Paid submission services do not guarantee a faster or better listing.
