Product Sections & categories

Using product sections / categories allows you to place your product range in departments or groups. This allows your site to look better and enables your clients to navigate your site easily to find the product range they are looking for.

Note: If you need sub-sections and are running an information based site you can also use this feature. Ensure you remove the "show price" and "buy" buttons and the products will become "item" pages, better known as information pages.
You can have an unlimited number of sub-sections within sections. This allows you to narrow down your product listings.
Login to your administration area. Click on the tab "Content". Click on the link "Product Sections / categories" which can be found under the sub-heading "Products".
When the main "Product Sections / categories" page loads click the "list sections / categories" button. This will display a list of currently used sections which you have previously set up. To delete all sub-sections which a section may contain, click the "Sub delete" button or delete the main section by clicking the "delete" button.
To administer a current section click on the button "modify". To access the sub-sections contained in a main section, click the button "Sub-Sections". You can create an RSS feed for the section in question by clicking the "make" button under the column "RSS".

Note: Before making an RSS feed ensure you have already added products to a section, otherwise, your RSS feed will be blank. You will also need to re-apply the "make" RSS each time you add or remove a product associated with a section.
To create a new section click the "add new" button. When the page loads complete the available boxes. Click the "submit" button to apply the changes.
Current settings available for this page are;
| Title: | This allows you to define a separate navigation name for the page. For example, you have the page title of "about our software". This would be too long to show on the navigation section so you would want a shorter name such as, about us. |
| Show: |
This allows you to remove a page from the navigation area. You can then either link to the page via another page, or include the link as part of your site template. You may wish to do for about us pages and terms and contact us type pages. |
| Open to all: |
This allows you to disable the page. This prevents anyone from viewing it. Setting open to all allows every visitor to view the page. Selecting level 1 through to level 6 ensures that only clients who are logged in and have a login level equal to or greater than the one set can view the page. |
| Admin name: |
This is used within the admin area only to help you administer pages more quickly. |
| This will contain: |
Choose "sections / categories" if you intend to set up sub-sections within the section or "product" if you do not need sub-sections but want to list your products. |
| A section within: |
Leave to "home" unless you need this section to be placed within a sub section. |

| No of items per page: |

| Which CSS: |

| Meta title: | This is used by search engines and by clients searching the net for keywords. It is a method of identifying what the page is about. |
| Keywords: | This allows you to define and choose the number of keywords. It helps clients to find your pages and search engines to list them. Each keyword should be separated with a comma. |
| Alt URL: |
If you need to reference another page rather than the current one type the page name in this box. An example would be that you wish to add a link to your navigation which references a third party page. |
| Static name: |
Your site works with dynamic pages (makes the page and contents in real-time) It is often better to use static page names to improve search engine placement. To take advantage of this feature, type the page name, for example about us. Type about us.asp in the box. The software will clean up and convert the name to about_us.asp and make the file for you (if turned on). While making static file names, the software will scan your site to ensure the name has not been used already for another page. If it finds a duplicate page it will automatically rename the newest one for you. |
| Image: Learn to upload and the features |
If you wish to include an image on your page click the word image. A new pop up window will load. Choose the image you wish to upload and use for this page by selecting the browse button. | Section footer: |
Allows you to add content below the main section list. |
| Order: |
This allows you to override the default navigation order which alphabetically lists the pages to any order you require. For example if you wanted your about us page to be the first on the navigation section for information pages, you would set this to 1 and then change the other pages menu order accordingly 1,2,3 etc |
