General information pages sections

This feature offers you the ability to create a section and have pages shown within it. The feature is unlimited.

Note: If you require a section which contains multiple sub-sections, you will need to redevelop your site using the "item pages" and "item page sections" before the information can be shown.
To administer these settings login to your administration area. Click on the tab "Content" and from this page click on the link "General information pages Sections". This can be found under the sub-heading "General Information".
When the main "General information page section" page loads click the "list" button to display any current sections which you have created. To administer a section click the "modify" button and to remove a section click the "Delete" button.
To add a new section click the "Add new" button. When the main screen loads complete all of the required boxes. When you have finished adding your content, click the "submit" button to save them. You can now assign general information pages to this section creating a hierarchy.
Current options for this page are;
| Title: | This allows you to define a separate navigation name for the page. An example here would be you have the page title of about Smart CMS cms software. This would be too long to show on the navigation section so you want a shorter name such as "about us". |
| Show: |
This allows you to remove a page from the navigation area. You can either link to the page via another or include the link as part of your site template. You may wish to do for about us, terms and contact us type pages. |
| Use also see: |
This allows you to turn the "also see" section off and not display it. This is useful if you are just creating a section and need to hide the content from the view of clients. |
| Open to all (login level): |
This allows you to completely disable the page to prevent anyone from viewing it. Setting open to all allows every visitor to view the page. Selecting level 1 through to level 6 ensures that only clients who are logged in and have a login level equal to or greater than the one set, can view the page. |
| Meta title: | This is used by search engines and by clients searching the net for keywords. It is a method of identifying what the page is about. |
| Number per page: |
This allows you to select how many pages will be shown within this section before it offers paging. |
| Order: |
This allows you to override the default navigation order of alphabetically listing the pages. You can change this to any order you wish. For example, if you wanted your about us page to be the first on the navigation section for information pages, you would set it to 1 and the change the other pages menu order accordingly 1,2,3 etc. |
| Sort by: |
Allows you to choose the lists order. |
| Layout: |
This provides several options for the layout of the information pages to be shown within this section. |
| Meta keywords: | This allows you to define and choose the number of keywords to help clients find your pages and search engines to list them. Each keyword should be separated with a comma. |
| Static URL: |
Your site works with dynamic pages (makes the page and contents in real-time). It is often better to use static page names for improved search engine placement. To take advantage of this feature type the page name you wish to call it. For example, about us, type in about us.asp in the box. The software will clean up and convert the name to about_us.asp and make the file for you (if turned on). While making static file names, the software will scan your site to ensure the name has not been previously used for another page. If it finds a duplicate page it will automatically rename the newest for you. It is important to note the static file name MUST end in .asp |
| Image: Learn to upload and the features |
If you wish to include an image on your page click the word image where a new pop up window will load. Choose the image you wish to upload and use for this page by selecting the browse button. Once you have selected the image click submit. Your website will now upload your image and provide a confirmation. Please click complete to close the box and complete the process |
| Page content: | This allows you to add content, text or images to the page and is called the body of the page. This HTML editor works much like any word processor and includes its own help files to aid you. |
| Override ALT tag: |
Use for SEO. By default the page title is used as the Image ALT tag. However, you can override this by typing in the content you need. |
