CSV Limitations
CSVs are helpful at times and do have their purposes, but need careful consideration before applying. When using them for modification you bypass many features of our software which are there to optimise and safeguard your site; so take care.
Features of our software means that we can:-
- Remove invalid entries from most fields when saving - CSV does not
- Ensure you cannot spam a search engine by using to many keywords - CSV does not
- Make static pages for better SEO - CSV does not
- Make sure your static pages are correctly formatted for better SEO - CSV does not
- Upload images - CSV does not
- Ensure your images are correctly named and formatted - CSV does not
- Ensure you fill out important fields such as price, descriptions etc - CSV does not
- Ensure products, sections, tabs etc are assigned correctly to areas with no mistakes - CSV does not
- Ensure that if something important is changed and used elsewhere on your site everything is correctly updated - CSV does not
Note: The software also has some clever in-built tools that can overcome some of the above issues when using CSV. These include "Fix my HTML", "Fix my images", "make missing static pages" and others.
